In this day and age, everyone is looking for ways to make a little more money. Unfortunately, for lots of us, getting a second job isn’t a viable option- there simply aren’t enough hours in the day.. There are, however, several ways to boost your income without having to do much. Here are some of your options:
Becoming certified for things like copywriting, design and product management can help you get freelance gigs. More and more online colleges are offering fast track options for certifications which can open up an entire world of freelance work. These usually are short term gigs, but with the right certifications, you can make a good chunk of money doing it. Even without a certificate, there are things you can do. Are you a great stylist? Musician? Cook? Hair stylist? Makeup artist? Offer your skills to friends and family.
Rent a Room
Do you have an extra room in your home? Rent it out! Craigslist is a great place to advertise rooms for rent. If there are things you absolutely cannot tolerate in a housemate, be sure to list those as conditions of the rental. Be specific about what exactly you are offering. Would you prefer short-term renters? Airbnb is probably a better option for you, then. This is a great way to connect with users who want to stay in your extra room, hotel style. With this option, you’ll have to rent the room furnished, and you’ll have less say about the specifics of who stays in your home. If you realize it’s not for you, though, it’s easy to quit.
Use Cash Back Cards
Of course, some expenses just can’t be avoided. Credit cards that offer a cash back option can be a good way to save. It’s important to have credit cards (that you can pay consistently every month) so that when it comes time to make a major purchase, such as a home, you have the built-up credit to do so. Aside from building credit for later, though, cash back cards offer you something back right away. Things like cell phone bills and cable and Internet bills are good to put on credit cards because they typically stay the same month after month. Groceries and gas for your car are also good things to put on your cash back credit card because lots of companies offer higher cash back rates on those items.
Sell your Photos
Do you have a decent camera and a little bit of time? Shoot some pictures of anything, landscapes, the sky, foods, etc. You can upload these images and sell them to stock photo websites. Lots of times these sites don’t pay up front. Instead, you’ll get a fee every time the photo is used. If the photos are good enough they’ll be used time and time again.
Become a Tasker
If you have any experience with manual labor, becoming a Tasker on sites like TaskRabbit and Fiverr can be a great way to boost your income. This website pairs people with a little extra time with people who need jobs around their house done. These chores are usually quick and the pay rate is pretty good. You work on your own schedule, so you won’t be required to work if you don’t have the time.
Play Games Online
It’s true that it’s really, really hard to actually make money for “free”, even online. Everything from surveys to online games only pay out money because of how much they’re able to profit themselves. When it comes to the likes of online games and daily fantasy sites, people are actually able to make a fair amount of money by employing the right strategy. It’s certainly not for everyone, but I’m sure we all know a few friends who took to playing online poker and daily fantasy games in their early days and made a few bucks on the side doing so.
